Hours of the Day :
The word hour comes from the Greek word "hora" - which was used to mark a time or season. The custom of marking day by a 24 hour system was invented by the Babylonians. The method of marking an hour by 60 minutes came from the Sumerians. Today we still use their way of marking time by 60 seconds in a minute and 60 minutes in an hour.

If you live here in Northern Virginia, chances are your calendar is full.

Even so, it is extremely important that you make time to dedicate to your spiritual health. If you spend 20 minutes a day in physical excercise, then you should spend at least that long letting God speak to you through His Word so you can remain spiritually fit.

Because we realize that time is valuable, our committment is that if you make the effort to attend SHBC, we will do our best to make it worth your time. Thanks for including SHBC in your calendar!
